The mission of Annual Reviews is to provide systematic, periodic examinations of scholarly advances in a number of fields of science through critical authoritative reviews. Annual Reviews was founded as a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping scientists the world over cope with the ever-increasing volume of scientific research and data in a growing number of disciplines. Since the publication of the first Annual Review of Biochemistry in 1932, Annual Reviews has brought to its readers the best in comprehensive and affordable scientific review literature and now publishes 37 series that consistently garner the highest ISI "Impact Factor" rankings in their diverse fields. Among the teams of Annual Reviews directors, editors, and authors are Nobel Laureates, members of the National Academy of Sciences, recipients of the National Medal of Sciences, and winners of the most prestigious scientific awards.
Marketing Specialist
As a valuable member of our Marketing Department, this highly motivated, organized, and responsible Marketing Specialist will have an opportunity to assist in analyzing markets and developing sales strategies that address the needs of the individual marketplace to increase awareness and sales. Responsibilities include the creation and implementation of direct mail, e-marketing programs, professional society relations, print and web-based advertising, and coordination of appropriate trade shows. Markets are academic, research, corporate, and government institutional libraries worldwide.
Applicants must have:
- A BS or BA degree in a marketing or business-related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of successful direct marketing experience, preferably in scientific publishing and/or academic markets.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in using MS Office, QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat; and the ability to learn new software applications/versions quickly.
- Strong communication skills; excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills and the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully.
- High level of initiative and ability to work toward goals with little or no direct supervision.
- Proven organizational skills. Must be able to coordinate a large number of projects concurrently and prioritize with minimal guidance.
- Ability to work successfully within a team environment.

Production Editorial Assistant
Opportunity for highly motivated, responsible, and disciplined Production Editorial Assistant to train for Production Editorial position working with editorial committees of scientists. Full-time position requires:
- copy editing, proofing, and tracking manuscripts for print and electronic publication
- meeting multiple deadlines
- communicating with editors, authors, and suppliers via email, letters, phone and fax, and
- traveling outside the Bay Area 2-3 week ends annually for meetings
Successful candidates should have
- BA or BS degree and 2-3 years work experience
- advanced MS Word capability and be proficient in using Windows and MS Office
- command of English language with excellent editing and writing skills
- sound judgment, project-management skills, and tact
Background and interest in science & academic publishing, as well as familiarity with image-editing software, are pluses. Great benefits & friendly work environment.
